hello.
i hope by now you have realized not to expect many written words from us. i hated english in high school. i decided to major in computers to get away from writing essays (and because i like them. but the lack of lots of formal writing was a major perk). then blogs came around and computer nerds started writing things. complete madness!
i guess we made this to say things about our disney college program experience. but i'm pretty sure everyone who would ever possibly read this watches our vlogs. so watch those. they're more regular (thanks activia!).
but if you must hear about our adventure in words here it goes:
january 20th was a very important day. i mean sure, barack obama was inaugurated which i guess is a big deal or something but that event will live in the shadow of THE DAY FALL 2009 APPLICATIONS WENT UP. so we watched the e-presentation and applied the next day so we could print the role checklist at school (<3freeprinting).
our interviews were a week or so later and they went fantastically :]
then we had to wait to hear back, which wasn't so bad until everyone else started to get their purple folders and we were still waiting. luckily it only took about three weeks or so for mine to come, but matt's still hadn't arrived after about a month and we started getting nervous (isn't it funny how at the time we new exactly how many hours we had been waiting and now we are just sort of guessing how long it took. apparently the torture of waiting did not leave any lasting scars, so GOOD NEWS to future CPs who think the wait will kill them).
ANYWAY. after waiting for what seemed like weeks matt got an email asking him to accept his offer soon. this was rather exciting since he hadn't gotten his folder yet so he called his recruiter right away and they sent him a new folder. they were supposed to send it to his house in farmington, but a few days later there was a purple surprise in a hand written envelope waiting for us in our mailbox!
so:

we're pretty pumped to say the least. and matt is now less than a month away from leaving! there are about a million things we have left to do before we leave including (but not limited to):
- PACK! so not looking forward to that. but we have moved a lot in the last few years, so we're getting to be pros.
- empty our apartment so we can hopefully rent it out while we are gone. it's going to be weird having strangers living in our house for six months.
- get approval from my school so i can get credit for doing the program (lauren)
- register for a class(matt)
- FINALS ugh
- get contacts (lauren)
- bathing suit shopping :[ (laurenandmatt)
needless to say, we are quite pumped to be heading down to finally do the DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM. i feel like i have been waiting forever for this and i can't believe it is finally happening. in high school i had a hand drawn mickey (which my tattoo actually ended up looking a lot like...) taped to my computer desk to remind myself that after all the endless homework and standardized tests i would finally graduate and be able to do the college program. after a few bumps in the road where it looked like it might not end up happening it is FINALLY almost here. i guess this is what it must feel like to have accomplished something!
so basically, i'm pumped.
and if this is the only lengthy post you ever get from us, sorry! don't expect anything soon. next time someone reminds us we have this maybe i will make matt write something fantastic. maybe.
